A smoothie is the perfect way to ensure you stay on track throughout the winter months and to ensure you’re getting your 5-a-day. Whether you like to sip on a smoothie throughout the day or start your day with a nutritional punch, they are packed full of vitamins and minerals to ensure you stay happy and healthy throughout winter.

Winter fruits and vegetables

Using seasonal fruit and vegetables in your smoothies will ensure your smoothie is absolutely jam-packed full of nutrients. Seasonal fruits and vegetables retain more nutrients than their out-of-season counterparts, as they’re picked and packed when they’re fully ripe and developed. This isn’t to say that all of your smoothie ingredients need to be seasonal, but it’s important to ensure you pick a few winter fruits and vegetables for your smoothie each day.

Some of the best seasonal produce includes:

  • Lemons
  • Grapes
  • Cranberries
  • Clementines
  • Oranges
  • Apples
  • Pears
  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Carrots
