Get Radiant Skin With An Acai Smoothie Bowl

That’s why today, we are going to whip up a super simple, anti-oxidant boosting acai smoothie that will help promote youthful and radiant looking skin.

Acai berries are considered to be a superfood in the health food world. Translation: they offer superior nutritional value vs the calories they contain!

So what’s so superior about these berries?

Well firstly, they contain a high amount of Vitamin C which is an antioxidant that works to fight off free radicals which can damage our skin cells, hair, teeth and eyes. Not only does this boost of antioxidants help to promote young and radiant skin but it can also help eliminate free radicals that can cause cardiovascular health issues like heart disease.

Acai berries have also been found to have detoxifying effects as they can help cleanse the digestive system and improve intestinal health. The natural fibre in acai also assists you to digest and absorb nutrients in other foods.

An acai smoothie is also great for pre and post workout snack because it contains amino acids that can help to promote muscle performance, energy production, endurance and also assist with repairing muscles.

That’s a lot of great reasons to get a dose of acai into your smoothie bowl.

Ingredients:

3 bananas (frozen)

1 TBSP Freeze Dried Acai Powder (can be found at health food stores)

1/4 cup milk of your choice

1 TSP chia seeds (optional but they help to thicken the smoothie and have great source of fibre, protein and omega 3s)

Whatever fruits, seeds, coconut flakes and nuts to get creative and decorate your smoothie bowl!

Method:

1. Cut your bananas up in 1cm rounds and pop them into a ziplock bag. Freeze them for a few hours or overnight.

2. Place your frozen bananas into a blender. Add in the acai powder, chia seeds, and milk into the blender. Give it a good blitz until the bananas have turned into a soft serve texture.
